Big Air Big Skies- XC to Ichifusa Mountain

On Monday, February 27, 2012 expecting a weak north wind, we decided to go paragliding at Shiragadake near Hitoyoshi. As conditions gradually improved, Rik was able to soar up to 2550m over Mt.Shiragadake and fly over 20kms on the west wind to Mt.Ichifusa. There he entered a thermal convergence zone over the Kyushu Sekiryou Range and rose above the clouds caused by moist east wind blowing over the mountain. The flight continued until sunset and lasted over 6 hours. This was a record breaking flight for Rik as he broke his altitude, distance and duration records.
